Fish for Students – Script
Gimp, Chunk and Little Monster have a new friend.
Alyssa Bannister, a third-year plyschology student at St. Thomas University has given the a new home in her living room.
Originally from Salisbury, New Brunswick, Alyssa has had pets since the day she was born.
Her cat Jack And her dog Molly who recently passes away were always waiting for her when she came home.
When she moved away, Alyssa had to get used to life without pets.
Alyssa: “I’ve always kind of had animals around the house. I mean, recently Molly died but Jacks is still around and he’s still my cat. So when I came up here, I still wanted animals that I could love.”
Banned from having a cat or dog, Alyssa decided that fish would make the perfect animal friends.
These goldfish came from Pets Unlimited.
Kael McGillvary, a sales associate at pets Unlimited, says the store often sees students buying fish at the beginning of each school year.
Kael: “They’re easy to care for, they just need a little tank. They only need water, food lasts them for months on end. Feed them a couple of times during the week, clean them once a week and they’re usually pretty content.”
Like Alyssa, many students have found comfort in their new fish friends.
